Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the questions we are asked most often. If your question is not covered, send it with your free quote request and we will reply.

Quotes and booking

How do I get a quote?

Fill in the form on our Get a free quote page with your suburb, a list of jobs and photos if you have them. We will reply with a written scope and quote, or suggest a short visit if we need to see the job first.

Is the quote really free?

Yes. Quotes are free and there is no obligation to go ahead.

Why don’t you list prices on the website?

Every job is different. Access, materials, the condition of what is already there and how many jobs are combined all change the work involved, so we quote each list individually in writing.

Do photos help?

Yes. Clear photos of each job, with something for scale, let us quote more accurately and bring the right parts and materials on the first visit.

Will I get a written scope before work starts?

Yes. You will know exactly which jobs are included before we start, and we will check with you before adding anything.

Can I add jobs on the day?

Usually, if time and materials allow. We will confirm any extra work with you before doing it.

How far ahead do I need to book?

It depends on the time of year and the size of the list. Tell us if a job is urgent, such as a door that won’t lock, and we will do our best to fit it in.

Our services

What kinds of jobs do you do?

Repairs and maintenance, doors and windows, plaster and painting touch-ups, decks, fences, gutters on single-storey homes, pressure washing, flat-pack assembly, TV mounting, shelving, tiling, silicone, kitchen and bathroom fittings, floors and skirting, rental repairs and grab rails. See our services page for all 22.

Do you do electrical or plumbing work?

No. We do not do licensed electrical, gas or plumbing work. If a job needs a licensed trade we will tell you, and we can do the non-licensed parts of the list.

Do you do large renovations?

No. We focus on repairs, maintenance and small installations. Structural work and work that needs a building permit should go to a registered builder.

Is there a minimum job size?

Small jobs are welcome. We suggest grouping small jobs into one list so a single visit covers as much as possible.

Do you clean gutters on two-storey homes?

No. We clean gutters on single-storey homes only, for safety reasons.

Can you mount a TV on a brick or plasterboard wall?

Yes. We fix into studs in plasterboard walls and use suitable masonry anchors in brick. You need a power point near the TV, since we do not install new power points.

Do you assemble flat-pack furniture?

Yes, including wardrobes, beds, desks, drawers and outdoor furniture. Tall items are anchored to the wall to prevent tipping.

Do you install grab rails?

Yes. We install grab rails and handrails fixed into solid framing or masonry. If an occupational therapist has given recommendations, send them with your request.

Do you work with asbestos?

No. Some older homes contain materials with asbestos. If we suspect a material contains asbestos we will stop and recommend testing by a licensed professional.

Rentals and businesses

Do you work for landlords and property managers?

Yes. We handle work orders, routine repairs and end-of-lease repairs, and can arrange access with tenants. See our property managers page.

Can you help me get my bond back?

We repair the kind of small damage often noted at final inspections, such as wall holes, scuffs, loose fittings and damaged screens. We cannot guarantee the outcome of an inspection.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes, small repairs and maintenance for shops, offices, clinics and warehouses, including in Dandenong South. See our commercial handyman page.

On the day

Do I need to be home?

Not always. Many clients leave a key or arrange access, especially for outdoor jobs. We will agree access with you when we confirm the booking.

Do you bring materials?

We bring common hardware and consumables. For specific items like a door, tile, handle or fixture you have chosen, we can source it or you can supply it.

Do you clean up afterwards?

Yes. We use drop sheets, vacuum work areas and take away offcuts and packaging from our work.

Can you take away rubbish?

Yes, small loads of household rubbish and old items as part of a visit. We do not take hazardous materials such as asbestos, chemicals or paint in bulk.

What happens if a job turns out bigger than expected?

We stop and talk to you, explain what we found and agree on any change before continuing.
